Welcome to the CCRS @ Brighton Website

  • What do you know about your faith?
  • Do you think about issues challenging the Church today?
  • Can you explain your beliefs?

If you want to know more, the CCRS @ Brighton is for you.

The Chaplaincy  hosts a group where you can listen, learn, discuss and explore your faith with others.  This would be particularly useful to parish catechists or to people who work in Catholic schools.

We will be covering a range of topics relevant to Catholicism which will include:

  • Sacraments
  • Christian morality
  • The Church
  • Jesus Christ
  • Holy Scripture is the source of everything so our Study group begins with an exploration of the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament

A number of tutors will take part but the core team is:

  • Dr Kate Williamson, who is a specialist in religious education at the School of Education, Brighton University
  • Adrian Richards, St John the Baptist parish, Brighton. Adrian has a masters degree in Christian Theology from Heythrop College
  • Father Paul Wilkinson, Chaplain to the Universities

You can dip in and out of the programme as you please but you must enrol on our website beforehand. Each module costs just £20, to cover chaplaincy expenses only. Students may do this free of charge.

Please consult the timetable to check the current meeting arrangements.

If you wish to gain a formal qualification, the Study Group will help you achieve the Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies (CCRS).
